Instructions for On-Campus Interviews

1. Log in to GoldPASS, the U of M site for position listings and on-campus recruiting info. Find it at http://goldpass.umn.edu. (Instructions are provided there for new and returning users.) Update your GoldPASS profile if needed. This would also be a good time to upload your resume.

You must agree to the
cancellation policy
to qualify to apply
for positions.

2. To view the positions available through CLA On-Campus Recruiting, hover over the “On-Campus Interviews” tab and choose “View all on-campus interviews.” You will see a search screen. To see all the opportunities, leave the search fields blank and click “Search.” If you want to narrow the list down to those you’re specifically eligible for, click “Sign-up for interviews you qualify for.” (Recruiters often specify GPA minimums, graduation dates and so on.)

Search Tip: When you click “View all On-Campus Interviews” and the search page comes up, you can find a specific listing by searching on the company name or interview date.

3. Apply for a Position and its On-Campus Interview
After you’ve reviewed the job description and qualifications, and you’re sure you want to apply for the position and request the on-campus interview, click the “Request Interview” button. (For this button to appear, you will have to have a resume uploaded and approved in the GoldPASS system at this point.)

If the “Request Interview” button doesn’t appear at the top of the page, this means you don’t qualify for the position. The reasons will be listed on the page. If you feel there’s a mistake and you do qualify, contact the Career and Community Learning Center at 612-624-7577 and ask to speak with an employer relations representative.

How to Sign Up for an Interview Time

4. Shortly after the position’s application deadline passes, you’ll be notified by e-mail if you’ve been selected for an interview. If you’ve been selected, the e-mail will ask you to log in to GoldPASS and sign up for an interview time. You’ll need to sign up by a specific deadline, so watch for the notification e-mail and follow up quickly.

How to Prepare for Your Interview

CCLC can help CLA students prepare for any job or internship interview. Visit us in 135 Johnston Hall for personal assistance. Or stop by to pick up handouts that cover all aspects of the interview process (what questions you might be asked, how to answer them, what to wear, what to ask, and so on). Our office is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

You can also find interview tips online at www.cclc.umn.edu/OCR/inttips.html.
