1. TO APPLEBY HALL WE GO!
-- Visit us there starting in November.
Next month, our office in 345 Fraser Hall is moving to 240 Appleby Hall (next door to Fraser). This is our office that provides community service-learning and off-campus study programs to all U of M students. (Our office in Johnston Hall is the CLA career office.) For move updates, and information about the programs offered through our Fraser/Appleby office, see www.servicelearning.umn.edu and www.offcampusstudy.umn.edu.

2. STATE SENATE INTERNSHIP INFO SESSION
-- Monday, October 5
-- 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
-- Blegen Hall, Room 215
Looking for a way to get experience in politics? Do a spring 2010 internship with the Minnesota State Senate. This Info Session provides details and internship application instructions.


3. WHAT CAN I DO WITH A MAJOR IN POLI SCI?
-- Wednesday, October 7
-- 3:30 to 5 p.m.
-- Blegen Hall, Room 250
Talk to political science alumni about the paths they took after graduation. Get advice and ask questions. This free event is open to all U of M students.


4. PRACTICE INTERVIEW DAYS
-- October 8 and 15
-- choose your time
-- 135 Johnston Hall
Do a practice interview with a business professional, then receive helpful feedback afterward. Your practice session will be 45 minutes long and you can choose the start-time. Sign up through GoldPASS in the 'On-Campus Interviews' section. (NOTE: The Oct 8 session is now full.)


5. CAREER PANEL: GOVERNMENT AND LAW ENFORCEMENT
-- Tuesday, October 13
-- 12:30 to 2 p.m.
-- Hubert Humphrey Center, Room 215
Hear from a panel of professionals working in various government and law enforcement fields. Learn about their career paths and why you might consider these fields. Open to all U of M students. Feel free to bring your lunch--cookies will be provided!


6. GRADUATE AND PROFESSIONAL SCHOOL DAY
-- Wednesday, October 14
-- 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
-- Coffman Union, Great Hall
Stop by this BIG annual event to learn about local and national grad schools. More than 100 grad programs will be there. Browse on your own, talk to school reps, or attend free seminars about applying and funding. This event is free and open to everyone. For details and preparation tips, see www.cclc.umn.edu/GSD


7. GOVERNMENT JOB AND INTERNSHIP FAIR
-- Monday, October 26
-- 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
-- Coffman Union, Great Hall
Many positions are available in government departments and agencies across the country. Come to this event to learn what's out there. You don't have to register in advance to attend, but bring your student ID to get in. See the MCUCSA site for more information.


8. INTERNSHIP ADVICE AND A PIZZA SLICE
-- Thursday, November 12
-- Noon to 1:30 p.m.
-- Coffman Union, President's Room
Learn why internships matter, how to find one, and how to get as much out of it as you can (while you eat free pizza!). This is a panel discussion open to all CLA students.


9. WHAT CAN I DO WITH A MAJOR IN THE ARTS?
-- Thursday, November 12
-- 12:15 to 1:30 p.m.
-- Regis Center for Art, Influx Room
Are you considering a career in the arts? Come to this free event for insight from arts professionals. It's recommended for students majoring OR interested in the visual or performing arts.


10. BUSINESS CAREERS FOR CLA MAJORS
-- Friday, November 13
-- 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.
-- B33 Johnston Hall
Learn how a liberal arts major can lead to a business career. You'll get information about the skills companies look for, how to acquire them, and about business-related majors, minors, and internships. Speakers include CLA alumni with prominent positions in business. Free and open to all students.

11. CLA ON-CAMPUS RECRUITING
Organizations will be on campus THIS FALL to interview CLA students for jobs and internships. Most internships are for Summer 2010, and job openings are for students graduating between Dec 2009 and May 2010. Companies include Ameriprise Financial, Analysis Group, Cargill, Macy's, Pepsi, and Target. (Cargill and Target will also do Info Sessions.) For details, log in to GoldPASS and click the 'On-Campus Interviews' tab.
