OUR FRASER OFFICE MOVE IS DELAYED....

1. STILL MOVING TO APPLEBY HALL
Our Fraser Hall programs will soon be located in Appleby Hall, which is next door to Fraser. The move timing has been delayed, so when we have the exact date, we'll send a brief email notification. (Our Fraser/Appleby office provides community service-learning and off-campus study programs to all U of M students.)

2. TEACHING IN AND OUT OF THE CLASSROOM:
AN INFORMATION FAIR FOR STUDENTS

-- Regis Center for Art, Influx Room
Stop by this Fair if you're interested in any kind of teaching. You'll get information about classroom teaching and nontraditional options like teaching English abroad, community education, and AmeriCorps. You can also learn about internships, service-learning, and volunteer work that lets you sample the teaching profession. This free event is open to all U of M students.


3. LIME CORPORATE RECRUITMENT
FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES

-- Downtown Minneapolis Target
Stop by this free event to network with recruiters from major companies. It's coordinated by 'Lime Connect', a nonprofit that connects employers to students with disabilities. This event is specifically for U of M students. Learn more here.


4. INTERNSHIP ADVICE AND A PIZZA SLICE

-- Noon to 1:30 p.m.
-- Coffman Union, President's Room
Learn why internships matter, how to find one, and how to get as much out of it as you can (while you eat free pizza!). This is a panel discussion open to all CLA students. For more information, see our Events page.

6. BUSINESS CAREERS FOR CLA MAJORS

Learn how a liberal arts major can lead to a business career. You'll get information about the skills companies look for, how to acquire them, and about business-related majors, minors, and internships. Speakers include CLA alumni with prominent positions in business. Free and open to all students.


7. HECUA INFO SESSION (WITH PIZZA)

-- 12 to 1 p.m.
-- Regis Center for Art, Influx Room
Through a HECUA program, you can focus on social justice issues while studying off-campus in the Twin Cities area. HECUA programs are: City Arts, Environmental Sustainability, Metro Urban Studies, Civil Rights Movement, and Environment and Agriculture. This Info Session features HECUA faculty and participants. Ask question, get advice, and eat pizza. Register here.

The Twin Cities United Way has two internships available for CLA sophomores, juniors and seniors. The internships start in January 2010. Stop by to learn about the positions and get tips about applying. Bring a copy of your resume for feedback. See details here.

Organizations are still coming to campus this fall to interview for jobs and internships. (Most internships are for Summer 2010. Jobs are for students graduating between Dec 2009 and May 2010.) The companies with November application deadlines include U.S. PIRG, Greater Twin Cities United Way, Waddell & Reed, Kraft Foods, and Insight Global. 14. ID 1201 MAJOR AND CAREER EXPLORATION
Get help choosing a major or exploring the one you've got. This class will teach you how to assess your interests, and the basics of career planning.

15. ID 3201 CAREER PLANNING
This class will teach you sophisticated job-search strategies like marketplace research, resume writing, networking, interviewing and more.

16. ID 3208 INTERNSHIP REFLECTION
This new class is open to all U of M sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have a Spring 2010 internship. This class will help you get more out of your internship while earning credit. All coursework and class discussions are online.
